In-line Patch Panel

In the case of ECAL Barrel, the downstream end of the ruggedized ribbon part of the fanout is terminated with an MFS12 connector housing an MT12 ferrule. This is connected to an MFS adaptor at the EB in-line patch panel. The EB in-line patch panel consists of a separate, independent box located at the outside (cabled end) of each supermodule.

In the case of ECAL Endcap or Preshower, the downstream end of the long ribbon is terminated with an MPO12 connector housing an MT12 ferrule. This is connected to an MPO adaptor at the EE/ES in-line patch panel. The EE/ES in-line patch panel consists of two large boxes, one for each endcap. These boxes are located at the foot of the detector, at the beginning of the cable chain.
